Physically-based lighting simulation.
Ray tracing computes light-to-surface interactions per pixel (reflection, refraction, global illumination). Hardware-accelerated on RTX (4th gen on Blackwell) and RDNA 4 (ray accelerators). Full path tracing — the entire scene rendered by ray tracing — is supported by recent RTX 5090/5090 Super at 4K with DLSS 4.
